Cinzia Bellettato

Cinzia Maria Bellettato is a highly accomplished researcher and project manager in the field of rare diseases. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Biological Sciences with summa cum laude honours from the University of Ferrara, Italy, in 1997. In 2004, she successfully completed her doctoral degree in Experimental Respiratory Pathophysiology at the University of Parma, Italy. During her PhD studies, she had the opportunity to receive additional training at the prestigious Imperial College of London – National Heart and Lung Institute, where she actively participated in various multi-center research studies.

Since April 2009, Cinzia Maria Bellettato has been deeply involved in the exploration and dissemination activities related to rare neurological diseases. She has served as the scientific officer of the Brains for Brain Foundation (B4B) and worked as the project assistant manager for the “Inherited NeuroMetabolic Disease Information Network” (InNerMeD-I-Network) project, which was part of the Second Health Programme 2008-2013.

In 2016, Cinzia Maria Bellettato took on the role of project manager for the European Reference Network for Rare Hereditary Metabolic Diseases (MetabERN). In this capacity, she has been responsible for overseeing scientific European clinical and research projects and networks focusing on rare diseases.

She is particularly interested in rare genetic diseases, specifically in the group of lysosomal storage disorders, but also in all those conditions characterised by CNS inflammation (e.g. Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, tumours, stroke, etc.). She is co-author of many book chapters and several of her scientific articles have been published in peer reviewed journals.
